"The original "Apocalypse" band from San Antonio, Texas was formed
in May 1972, first appearing that summer at a dance club called Chances
Are. Founding members were Lead Vocalist Jack Isaac Martinez and Ralph
Cortez, Manuel "Bones" Aragon on drums, Alex Hernandez on sax and Anthony
Hernandez on trumpet, all formerly being with The Royal Jesters who had
just broken up. Additional founding members were Mickey Le Blanc on guitar,
Mike Kidwell on keyboards and Jaime "Jimmy" Rodriguez on Bass. The band
had great local success along with gigs in Austin and surrounding areas.
Mainly a Top-40 Band, often Jack and Ralph would play Latin percussion
drums the Alex and Anthony would double on backup vocals rendering the
Genre as very versatile to say the least. This band created a large Fan
base and often performed at San Antonio's most notable night spots as
their house band. As time went on the band eventually went thru some
member changes, however it continued to flourish in particular with the
addition of Ambrose Fernandez on vocals. Personal note: At that time,
I was considerably the youngest member. To say it was a Blast is an understatement.
Years later I realized what a positive impact this band had on me. What
a privilege it was to play alongside some very gifted musicians."

wondered if you'd ever heard of a dance-rock-top 40 band back in the 70's
called Apocalypse? I did a gig with them and George Chambers together once,
both bands at some big function in SA. They were a really tight band and
sounded great. I remember the guitarist was a guy named George Morin or
Marine? Great player." (Contributed by Vel Espinoza)
VE writes: "Apocalypse used to play in
San Antonio and Houston. Your write up on the band mentions a guitar player
named George Morin. George Morin is a San Antonio jazz trumpet player (see
Momentus). GM never played guitar so maybe it was another George that played
with Apocalypse. Momentus used to play clubs in the east side of San Antonio
(like Little Hut). They played NCO Clubs, too. I saw them play in Fort Worth
once (circa 1975)." (Contributed by Brenda Hutchison)

archives, there is a listing for them, but no-one remembers any names...
The lead singer was Ambrose Fernandez, and the other band members were Benny?
(bass), Anthony? (guitar) and Bones? (drums). They regularly played at Heaven
Nightclub."
